Well, well, well. Practice makes perfect and many of you are going way overboard. You had the opportunity to ask for hints in class, and it seems that this comment area is becoming a garbage site for whinning and whimpering! Get real about an open book test, it isn't ever going to happen! This comment area is becoming a nusense rather than a helpful tool, if it continues I will take it away!
Please use this area only to post questions or answer other students questions to help one another.
It is NOT intended for your own personal whinning area! Many of you have abused this privealge!

How would you define a physical property?

  • At 7:04 p.m., Anonymous Anonymous said…

When you have a molecular compound and you have 4 electrons that are sharing what do you call it. Is it a quadruplet?

  • At 7:05 p.m., Anonymous Anonymous said…

    Thanks Theresa!

  • At 7:16 p.m., Anonymous Anonymous said…

For the chart with the boxes of the classification of matter where is says "mechanical mixtures" and "solutions" is it all right if we put heterogenenous and homogeneous or do we have to put those ones?

  • At 7:27 p.m., Anonymous Anonymous said…

    What is a covalent bond?

  • At 7:41 p.m., Anonymous Anonymous said…

Mr Smith, you should try adding a forum to the site. Then it wouldn't be so laggy going to the comments, and you can block all the complainers from posting. =)

  • At 7:55 p.m., Anonymous Anonymous said…

Theresa, I think he/she was joking, if he/she doesn't know what a covelant bond is, then he/she should be paying more attention in class because it's what we've been doing for the past week and a half. But if he/she is not joking, then yes, it is what Theresa said.

do we need to no anything about radioactivity?:|

  • At 9:17 p.m., Anonymous Anonymous said…

i dun get how u find out the charges...? example:what is the charge of an ion in colum 6?...sum1 heelp me plz n thnku

  • At 9:22 p.m., Anonymous Anonymous said…

to find the charges u have to figure out the number of valence electronsif they have too many on the outer shell they are a positive charge cause they have some electrons to spare. If it has too little valence electrons then it is a negative charge because it still needs some electrons
Im almost positve that that is how u do it

  • At 9:23 p.m., Anonymous Anonymous said…

    ha silly me...i juss 4got i gues..thnx so much

  • At 9:26 p.m., Anonymous Anonymous said…

I'll try and answer you question about the charges. I may be wrong (I'm 99% sure I'm correct), but I'll try. Take Magnesium, it's atomic number is 12, 2 electrons in the first shell, 8 in the second, and 2 in the third. Now ask yourself, if it wants to become a stable octet, is it easier to loose 2 electrons? Or gain 6? Obviously, it's easier to loose 2, so once it looses two, it becomes a cation, and a charge of +2. Try it with other elements, and it will begin to make sense. Good luck everyone,

    Dan

hey every1, i have a question. i know the difference, but i can't really explain it... the difference between a chemical change and a chemical property, and the difference between a physical change and a physical property. thanks.

  • At 9:41 p.m., Anonymous Anonymous said…

the difference between a change and a propertie is that a propertie is just when a change in appearance or state takes place...a change is when the particles are changed

  • At 5:53 a.m., Anonymous Anonymous said…

Good luck everyone. I'm sure if you studyed and listened in class you'll do fine. Don't get to worried about the test. :)bye!!

  • At 3:03 p.m., Anonymous Anonymous said…

i dont know..i think that u told us that the dates for the test and stuff should be on here but i cant find where?...because the screen is still all of the old Chemistry stuff..have u posted the new unit like u said cuz i cant see it?:S:S
